hmn is an evening event where artists, thinkers and workers from a range of backgrounds are each given up to seven minutes to present new work. Hmn aims to provide a simple, intimate and unique platform for testing what sound is and can be.

This eighteenth edition of hmn will feature Esmeralda Conde Ruiz, Adam Gallagher, Jaimini Patel and Mark Siebert.

Info on participants:

Esmeralda Conde Ruiz is a London-based interdisciplinary composer. Her practice revolves around human voices with themes of memory, time and velocity. Through her interest in the relationship between music and art she has created artworks such as Peter Liversidge’s The Bridge at Turbine Hall, Ice Lament for Olafur Elaisson’s Ice Watch and currently Susan Philipsz’s Sation Clock.

Adam Gallagher is an artist and writer from and based in London who works mainly through performance, publishing and sculpture. He self-publishes a series of pamphlets called ‘E.A.R.F’. His work begins with challenging the contemporary artist’s ego and it’s commitment to society, culturally and politically.

Jaimini Patel is a London-based artist whose work investigates the agency of matter through a negotiation of boundaries, systems and performative actions. Recent projects include: Fragile state, The Museum of Modern Art Odessa, 2019; Every Object is a Thing but not everything is an object, Hollybush Gardens, London 2018; An inventory of small acts, Archiv der Zeitgenossen, Krems, 2017.

Mark Siebert is an artist and musician based in London, who works with drawing, painting, performance and recording. Recent exhibitions solo exhibitions include Passen-gers (London), Greenaway Art Gallery (Adelaide, Australia) and on the streets of Homerton, London.

hmn edition 20 will take place in May 2020.
