hmn is a quarterly sound-based test centre organised by Anne Tallentire and Chris Fite-Wassilak, an evening event where artists, thinkers and workers from a range of backgrounds are each given up to seven minutes to present new work. Hmn aims to provide a simple, intimate and unique platform for testing what sound is and can be.

This thirteenth edition of hmn will feature Maeve Brennan, Carl Gent, Christopher Green and Aurelia Guo.

Info on participants:

Maeve Brennan lives and works in London. Recent solo exhibitions include The Drift at Chisenhale Gallery, London; Spike Island, Bristol; The Whitworth, University of Manchester and Lismore Castle Arts, Lismore (2017-18). She received the Jerwood/FVU Award 2018. She is co-founder of Sharna Pax, a film collective working across the fields of anthropology, documentary and visual art.

Carl Gent is an artist, writer and musician from Bexhill-on-sea. Their work in sculpture, installation, print and performance seeks to un-earth a means of relating to various materials, masses and subjects that can exist in active indifference to certain fixities within modernist and enlightenment practice.

Christopher P. Green’s (b. 1983, lives-works in London) practice is concerned with exploring revision and reinterpretation through the production of paintings and exhibitions. Forthcoming solo exhibitions include ‘Vitreous Humour’ at Alma Zevi, Venice (August 2018) and at Thames-Side Studios Gallery, London (September 2018). Recent solo exhibitions include ‘Works clockwise from entering studio – Part Two’, Material, Mexico City (2018), ‘Essays in varying lengths’, Wolfson College, Oxford.

Aurelia Guo is a writer and PhD candidate based at City Law School, University of London. She is the author of 2016 (After Hours Ltd), HOME INTRUDER EDITION ( and a forthcoming pamphlet through Gauss PDF.
